Habits

Played a all acoustical set at Tonka with Robber&Jamie last Tuesday. The inspiration for this was how the studio used to be a huge mess with many a odd object in it. Robber&me were wondering whether we couldn’t make music with those, saving the need to haul around so much gear. Another matter is that it’s so easy to become dependant on automation and it’d be interesting to play without any.

Into the second hour, however, when looking for something new to make a sound with, my eye was struck by the turntables. I ended up putting some objects (a can and a empty beer bottle) on them and hanging others from wires attached to mic stands right above them. Then, instead of playing, I stood back to admire the resultant system. I now wonder whether I’m very consistent  or merely set in my ways.

The question would bother me more if we hadn’t had so much fun, I think.
